Our Daughter Started Kindergarten Today – 5 Moments She Grew Up with Our Games

On the day my first daughter was born, I submitted the paperwork to officially incorporate GamestormEDU LLC, our game design and publishing company. Lots of folks have asked me why that day – and I always have two explanations:

I’ll never forget how old my daughter is, so I’ll know how old the company is!

A person always wants to have her daughter dream big, and what better way than to model risk taking and putting your dreams into motion than starting a company focused on making games.

My daughter started kindergarten today. I was just fine until I typed those words just now. For some reason, writing or typing the milestones makes them hit home for me.

To celebrate my daughter’s accomplishment, I wanted to share five moments where she grew up with our games.

1. A Company Started Along with Our Daughter’s Birth

If you enjoyed the launching point for this blog, you can hear my whole tale about why I started GamestormEDU and how my daughter inspired it all. It tells about our daughter’s birth, the “why” of our company, and much more!

2. Our Daughter Takes Her First Steps as Our Kickstarter is Funded

In April of 2022, we launched our Kickstarter campaign to fund Gamestormers. Without a variety of friends, family, and passionate supporters, we would have never been able to manufacture our dream. And, that same month, our daughter walked for the first time. You can read both stories again if you’d like!

3. Our Daughter Grows Up Fast as Our Pre-Production Copy Arrives

In November of 2022, our daughter showcased her expanded vocabulary, her love of singing, and everything she had learned. And right at this moment, the first “official” version of our completed game arrived from the manufacturer for review! At this moment, both parenting and publishing a game felt very real! I talk about both milestones in this blog if you want to check out our daughter’s progress and see our unboxing video.

4. Our Daughter Goes Out and About as Our Game Launches

If you like playgrounds, swimming, and trips to the library, you’ll love this milestone! At the same time our daughter was exploring the world, our Gamestormers game finally launched to the world! I share some stories and photos from our launch party at a local game store in this post.

5. Designing Games with Our Daughter

Our daughter has entered a special age where it’s not just about play and imagination, but also creation! In this blog, I share a little bit about taking old games and redesigning them with kiddos, as well as share about the game my daughter and I work on for fun.

It’s been an incredible journey for both our daughter and our games. Thank you for being a part of our adventure as we bring games to players on both a school day and a Saturday!
